Environmental Impacts

With a modern system of waste collection and treatment, we are contributing to a well-kept and cleaner environment. The construction of the Celje Regional Waste Treatment Centre will enable the following environmental objectives to be achieved:

- reduction in emissions into the soil and groundwater,
- reduction in greenhouse emissions,
- the preservation of surface and groundwaters,
- preventing the pollution of water sources.

Even though the facilities of the Regional waste Treatment Centre are in themselves an activity affecting the environment, this activity is minimal as we have considered all the standards stipulated by legislation. The new landfill is completely covered with a plastic protective layer preventing water from trickling into the groundwater. The problem of air pollution has also been solved – by using a biofilter and a fabric filter in the composting plant. Both filters guarantee that the emissions will not surpass the air emission limit values.
